General Monthly Meeting: January 9, 2008 Tuzzio’s restaurant Long Branch New Jersey.
Meeting called to order at 10:35 AM quorum present.
Meeting minutes: Copies distributed, motion to waive reading of minutes and accept as posted, second and passed Middlesex/Cumberland.
Executive Board Meeting: Warden O’Neill reported that the Executive Board met in Tom’s River on Friday January 4, 2008. Members present were Warden Harron, Warden Fraser, Director Wagner, Warden Hutler, Warden O’Neill, and Director Aviles. The following topics were addressed:
Plans set for conference September 24, 25, and 26, with the Golf fund raiser on September 23, 2008. Golf will be at the Avalon Golf Club and the conference will again be at the Grand Hotel in Cape May.
Warden Johnson will coordinate lodging and activities, Warden Cicchi and the C-TAC will coordinate the training component, and Director Wagner will coordinate the vendor expo. Assistance will be needed from the membership to assist on those committees.
Director Aviles advised that all financial filings have been completed on time and the books are with the accountant for auditing.
Nick Deluca approached Director Wagner about representing the NJCJWA at the monthly CJIS meetings, which are held on the 4th Monday at the Hughes Justice Center in Trenton. Warden Harron will ask for a volunteer at the regular meeting.

President’s Report: Warden Harron advised the association that he forwarded a letter to Nick DiRocco, NJAC, requesting assistance re: our opposition to the legislation eliminating the death penalty immediately after the last meeting but our efforts were too late as the vote was the following day. Nick advised that based on the support for the bill there was little chance that we would have been successful with the amendment.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the conference committees. Lt. Marazo advised he would be available to assist Warden Cicchi with the training component. Volunteer is also needed to represent the association at CJIS meetings on the 4th Monday of the month in Trenton.
Legislative Report: Copies of the report were not available for distribution. Tony Fuccello advised that there was little activity. Both Houses closed down yesterday. Only two bills are headed to the governor with expectations of passing, the C/O right to carry firearms and suicide screening at juvenile facilities.
Scholarship Committee: Warden Saunders advised he will be sending out the information soon.
PTC: Warden Cicchi advised there is no activity concerning corrections currently.
Membership Committee: Director Wagner has set a conference vendor goal of 30 for this year’s conference and anticipates he will reach that goal. The fee for the prime locations will be $1,500.00 and $1,000.00 for the standard locations. They will be allotted on a first come basis. All Counties are urged to get their membership dues in without delay.
DOC: Dan DiBenedetti had no issues. Grace Rodgers advised the number of state inmates in counties is now relatively low. CRAF has been receiving cooperation from the counties re: appropriate documentation and prisoner property issues but again requests that counties make every effort to reduce or eliminate property coming down to CRAF.
CCIS: Copies distributed, Paul Dermody reported on the following issues:
Law suits concerning inmate strip searches, and preparation of reports for counties named. Request to be made by association to AOC to prioritize work order to send this report to counties to publish in web page.

Social Security monthly tape.

CCIS-LiveScan Interface.
E-VFN Project.

OAG: Nick Deluca discussed the Dynamic Imaging project upgrade.
NJAC: Nick DiRocco Legislature is now out of session but most old bills will be refilled and go back through the process. Discussion of Bigley Law suit Cape May Prosecutor v. County.

Good of the Order: Director Merline commented on installation of "Info Cop" system in their visiting facility. Working out well, many arrests. For anyone interrested.
Bob Clark is leaving Aramark and all present wished him well in his new job.
Warden Hutler advised that Ocean County just finished their first Corrections Academy class and expressed thanks to Cape May County. For any others interested in sending recruits the next class will be in June or Mid September.
